Teaching Artist Residency
Drama/Creative Writing
Anne Chancey Dalton is available for educational drama and/or creative writing residencies. Many of her residencies are cross-curriculum and involve both.
Ms Dalton’s residency work can be adapted to meet specific needs in content and time.
Residencies of 2 or more days offer opportunities for teachers and students to experience a progression of educational drama and/or creative writing activities.
What is Readers Theatre?
“Readers Theatre is a rehearsed group presentation of a script that is read aloud rather than memorized. Lines are distributed among individuals, pairs, small groups, and the whole group. Its emphasis is on the spoken words, not on staged scenes. Traditionally, Readers Theatre performers hold and read from scripts during performances.
Curriculum-based Readers theatre is one way to merge drama, theatre, writing, reading, speaking, and content learning. It provides a motivating purpose for writing, reading aloud, and retaining information about curriculum content. An entire class can participate simultaneously.” Dramatizing the Content with Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre, Grades 6-12 by Rosalind M. Flynn www.rosalindflynn.com
